I remember as a young child going to Sears with my dad to get the first clothes dryer for our house. He told the salesman that he wanted to buy a dryer to match the washing machine that he had purchased a year ago. The salesman asked him which model it was. My dad replied that he didn’t know, but it had a big dent in the side and it was fifty percent off.

When I was a kid there were two or three blocks of restaurant equipment brokers in my town. Admittedly it was a hub for tourists and restaurants were constantly starting and failing. Craigslist seems to be the place now.

I don’t look at brands with stainless steel water bottles, but I do look at steel quality. I only use 18/8 or 18/10 stainless steel, and I never get a taste from them. They also never rust and are super durable. I recently replaced my cracked naglene with a 32 oz 18/8 single ply bottle. I’ve been using it every day for two years and it looks brand new, but I only put water in it.

AIAIAI is the best company I've come by so far. Highly, highly recommended. Had their headphones for 9 years now and they are the best quality, best sound, most indestructible headphones I ever had. And since they're modular, you can always replace just one element.

This.

But spring for the light (Pelican Air I think) or maybe no wheels. The added weight of the wheels (along with the extendable handle) really adds a lot. I think you’d save enough on shipping to justify carrying vs wheeling especially since this won’t be traveling often.

Edit: added name of the light versions

Buy a used flagship phone. iPhone is good, Samsung is also decent, Google is also good (keep in mind they only update their software for 3 years). I’d actually recommend an iPhone because they get software updates forever. You will have to get the battery replaced every 2 years or so, especially if it feels slow.

Their first mistake was buying Samsung. Least reliable appliance brand across the board in my experience, never known one in my circle of family and friends that were ever problem free. Don't know why people keep buying them.

I specifically sought out a front load model that was recommended by most appliance repair technicians I could talk to or hear from. Most said the model I have is good and they hardly ever have to service it, and when they do it's only minor issues. So we'll see how it goes, but the same method worked great for our last major appliances purchase.
