A month or so ago somebody suggested that politicians should have a retirement age. If I remember right they were talking about how so many of our politicians were a generation or two older than the vast majority of the working people. Therefore making decisions for a group of people they were out of touch with. At first I thought it was a little unjust, but then I've thought about it more and more and I think they were really on to something. I'm a boomer (70F) of good intelligence, lots of life experiences, relative good health, etc. and I have trouble remembering names mostly but other stuff as well. I don't know the number of our congress and other political office holders that are in their upper 70's or older, but I think there is quite a few that are more than likely at least in my state if not worse. I'm not sure I trust them anymore to make our nation's decisions. I think a top age limit might me in our best interest.

I can tell you how I ended up homeless and it has nothing to do with drugs or mental illness. I worked at my job. I went in everyday and I was never late. I worked 18-hour shifts sometimes because that was what was demanded of me. After a couple years on the job I had a severe injury and the injury ended up causing me to be instantly disabled. I was immediately fired after filing a worker's comp claim. Yes this is illegal and no the government doesn't give a shit. I tried to fight my company in court but they hired the best lawyers and I ended up not getting a penny for my medical and not getting any money for my time out of work and I could not work after that for years and that's how I ended up homeless.

You are asking the wrong question. You have to ask why would you want to be pessimistic at all when you can be optimistic? The answer is control, if you expect things to go bad, and they do, you feel more in control. If you expect things to go bad, and they turn out good, you are still fine. The biggest "hit" to you is expecting things to go well when they don't. Being pessimistic in some ways is a defense mechanism.

Reply to comment by meamemg in How to get a simple home loan? by chubbs79

That is a very good idea! That is even simpler than trying for a personal loan. It's not that im not trying to disclose anything, I just want to make this a simple process without having to go through the song an dance with a mortgage company. ya know?
