Therapy first of all.

Also having one or two "safe" friends that you can practice being social on, as dumb as it sounds. For me they are my best friends who I experienced little anxiety with to begin with. Talking with them always helped my confidence because it showed me I could hold a conversation and be fun just fine. For a while I was pretty dependent on them in any social situation, I'd feel so lost without them. But they were fine with me "using" them in that way, and one of them used me right back when she was anxious haha. Slowly I started getting to know more people and feeling less anxious every single time. I still get major anxiety with certain people or situations now though, but I've built my inner safe circle up enough to not have to dread hanging out with people everytime. I try not to bail on plans even if I'm nervous, because isolating just feeds the socially anxious monster and I never wanna reach a point of complete social isolation again.

I guess I realized it's okay to need a little extra support or time with things. I started small and slow, and am super proud of what I've achieved. It's hard (continuous) work but definitely possible.

The bridge shuddered from ordinance meeting the Barin's shields. "Another barage like that will bring down our shields!" reported Ashfling, Second Quill of the Barin's. Primary Quill Chlorush's skin colored in irritation, "Turn 87 degrees port, rotate the shield frequencies and prepare for a broadside. Instruct the gunner crews to coordinate their fire on-"

Chlorush was interrupted by a fleet wide broadcast, "This is Alpha Prime Diphique, a human dreadnought has exited FTL in the system. Cease fire and maintain positions! Alpha Prime repeats, cease fire and maintain positions."

Barin's crew jumped at the orders, not needing Chlorush to repeat them. Immediately they safed the weapons and cut the engines, but maintained the shields. Incoming fire evaporated simultaneously, their enemy receving similar orders.

One of the junior crew members looked around on confusion. "Prime, why must we stand down when a human ship enters the system? Surely they are no threat to our entire war fleet?"

Chlorush's eyes nearly popped off their stalks in surprise. "Primary Chlorush knew the academy's were rushing recruits through, but Primary Chlorush had no idea just how much they skipped." he couldn't help but give his second in command a look of bewilderment that was returned in kind.

"Sven Quill Hyalyat, the humans are incredibly dangerous. Their first encounter with non-humans was the Imperium, our former masters. The imperium sought to add the humans as another vassal species, but humans balked at the idea, they refused."

Ashfling interjected, "The humans value independence, even when they enslave their own kind. The galaxy found out the hard way that humans must be masters of their own destiny."

Hyalyat's eye stalks were rigid in equal surprise and fear. "What happened?"

"The imperium went to war with the humans, but the humans have another trait - adaptability. They adapted to space warfare faster than any other species. They recovered and reverse engineered technologies from every species they could steal it from. Then they adapted those technologies into fearsome weapons."

"Do you know of the Travbend Nebula, Sven Quill?"

"Sven Quill Hyalyat does."

"That nebula is all that remains of the Imperium core worlds."

"Humans are the reason the Imperium no longer exists, why we are free. To invite the humans into battle-"

"-is to invite them to deliver your doom."

Willington is very good. They're all Greek style, so they are more directly comparable. Tony's is better for traditional type pizza and the "special" is so good. Pleasant takes risks and had some really stand-out stuff. The Ding-a-ling is my favorite pizza from anywhere. Honorable mention to The Flaribbean, The Hang- Over, and The Big Willy.

if you face plant hard enough you either swim in the concrete or enter the backrooms. Also works in city areas if you jump 500 ft high, which is almost the average for most skyscrapers.

Confidence is not about other people.

It's about whether you trust yourself to execute what you are doing competently - including social tasks. "To confide" means to place trust in. When we talk of "confidence" as a personal trait, it implicitly means "self-confidence", viz. "I trust in myself".

Genuine confidence thus requires both developed competence and an accurate assessment of that competence. Otherwise, you can either become overconfident (a fool), if you lack the competence; and you can likewise become timid if you have the competence but sell yourself short.

It's a form of trust, fundamentally, and thus does/should operate like all other types of trust.

>Both these things are pretty easy fixes so I wasn’t too concerned.

This only applies if you're meeting a 10 year old. At 24 you should be very concerned.

Look, OP, I'm gonna be honest, I just skimmed from this point forward because this post comes up every couple of weeks or so.

THERE IS NO AMOUNT OF LOVE THAT EXCUSES A STANKASS.

How should you put it? Bluntly and directly. "Compassionate" sailed away around the time he was 13 or so.

"Hey, dude, you're a swell guy but your hygiene game is way off. While you have many qualities I find attractive, your lack of hygiene gives me pause. It's bad enough that I would not consider any physical affection for fear of being grossed out.

I hope you can take care of it."

If Stinkor's response is to get butthurt instead of jumping into the nearest shower, he is not a keeper.
