So, a 13 month old is 1. You would also say a 23 month old is 1. The developmental difference between a baby who just turned 1 and is about to turn 2 is MASSIVE and absolutely changes what types of activities will be available/fun for them.

Reply to TIL: “EGOT” is an acronym that was coined by actor Philip Michael Thomas. It gained wider recognition after being introduced on the comedy series “30 Rock” by lily_noodlez
The next level up is the PEGOT award which is an EGOT and also winning the Pulitzer prize. Marvin Hamlisch and Richard Rodgers have done this.

Reply to comment by KamaKairade in In a post-scarcity utopia, is there a real necessity of human labor of any kind? by kvothekevin
Except that the arts, education and elder care is something they can do very well.
You should spend a good amount of time with ChatGPT (especially the GPT-4 version) before suggesting that physical labor is the main thing where AI and automation are making a difference.
It's been a long time since bulldozers and backhoes replaced 99% of the need for humans with shovels. Now we are at the point where AI can replace most of the work done by lawyers. (if not with GPT-4, with GPT-8 or so)
And sure, you still someone to control the AI and make the highest level decisions and stepping in for those rare things where a human is needed. Just like you need the person driving the backhoe, and you still often need a person with a shovel to do some of the finer work. (although..... https://www.core77.com/posts/109074/A-Hilariously-Tiny-Mini-Excavator .... now just replace the driver with an AI, and maybe one person controlling 50 machines, big and small)
But yeah, while not everything is 100% automatiable, an awful lot of things are 99.9% automatable. The ones you mention actually being prime candidates.

I am not allowed to walk around my house bare foot for example. Neither is my daughter. He would get mad and the energy in the house would be awful. So I just do it. I would not If it was just me, but he has a say in what my daughter does, so in solidarity to her I follow the rules so she isn't the only one. He likes the curtains shut in the day time. If I go near the kitchen window and I have the blinds up, he gets mad that neighbours can see me. I am not naked. It's fine. But I try to avoid the energy for my daughter.
He doesn't have enough for alimony. Anything I do, I will have to do alone. Any diagnosis is just my researched opinion.

Reply to Which camera app do you use? 14 Pro Max by Ich_Will_
i'm on iphone 14pro max and i mostly use the default app now, in 48mp RAW and edit in lightroom if needed.
NOMO cam sometimes if i want the fake leica look and dazz cam sometimes too.
if i really need and want control i use halide and prefer it over procamera, because i like the button layout more.
but with the new camera it really is 99% default app, and halide only if i really want something special like long exposure shots, that computational stuff the iphone does now really is good for most situations.
why do you feel like you need one of these apps?

This is the internet, we have people claiming that the Earth is flat or that Moon landing is fake. Having another person believing into Illuminati is nothing new.

Reply to comment by Salt_Market_6989 in TIL about the void that forms under certain trees when it snows, called tree wells. The upper branches of the tree prevents snow from falling below it, creating a pocket that is a serious peril for skiers & snow boarders. Several die every year from falling head first into these voids. by Roguecop
Where I snowboard tree wells can be more then 12 feet deep and some years deeper. Part of the danger is that typically there is some sort of collision with the tree which then sheds it’s snow load on top of the rider. Imagine going head first for a dozen or more feet and as the walls of the well collapse the tree release the all the snow from it’s branches. I have done it once at it is scarier than I can describe. There you are upside down and buried. You can have all the safety equipment with you but you can’t move much or access your pack. The consolidated snow doesn’t get hard like in an avalanche so you can move a little. The key is not to panic.

Reply to comment by [deleted] in Hot take: ABS keycaps are more comfortable for typing by [deleted]
The just means the molds used for the abs caps are either newer or just smoother than the pbt ones. The texture right out of the box is not an indication of plastic material. And once both ABS and PBT shine and lose texture (they both do, pbt just takes a little longer) they’ll feel pretty similar. It’s better to say you just like smooth keycaps more than you do rough ones, rather than saying you like abs more than pbt, as it’s not mutually exclusive. If you’d like I can name the usual texture of several keycap manufacturers.

That’s going to be the point of contention. Is there an online portal of state medical insurance where you are? We use CoveredCA here. That would have any record of income change.
