Reply to comment by ChrisGeritol in LPT: After you've flown in to an airport and need a ride, consider a taxi service rather than Uber or Lyft. by firkin_slang_whanger
I was at a work trip in the UK and for some reason the Uber driver told me that they know when the flights come in and they all turn off their app to make the rates go higher.
I was very annoyed at that. Even though my trip was 100% covered by my company, what about the times I'm just traveling on my own?
I didn't tip the guy. Fuck that shit.

I am not your SO, but I too dismantle the Oreos and just eat the cookies. At least I used to. At Aldi they have them without the sugar paste stuff, and they’re delicious.

Reply to comment by imnos in The Luddites by scarlettforever
No, they weren't. The Luddites weren't trying to socialize the means of production or fight for union rights. They were destroying machines because they were too small-minded to think of anything else. And if they had their way, we never would have seen all the benefits industrialization brought.
Oppose unjust economic systems, but technology is just a tool. Gooder tools are more gooder.

Reply to comment by micha8st in How to report my FICA taxes to the IRA? by Neat_Dude95
I was able to talk to my employer and they have unmarked me as exempt for the current year, so that is not my problem.
I am now trying to figure out what forms I should use to report the FICA taxes on my tax return and make appropriate payment.

Maybe in the US, not everywhere. A 9 to 5 in an office is a privileged job in third world countries

Reply to What do yall think is the most common cause of homeless and how do we solve it? by Master-Benefit-4601
i see at least 2 cases. first, those who fall in difficult circumstances. second, a bit of first and some underlying mental issue. for the first, some have jobs so you just need to provide subsidized housing. some has no work, for those cases need to provide work and housing. for those who fall in 2nd case, they need to be put in care houses so that there will be people to take care of them unless if they are still functional and just need a bit of rehab or something.
