I've always received (for lack of a better term) generic guy gifts, sporting good gift card kind of things. Appreciated every one of them, but nothing crazy. I met a gal a couple weeks before my birthday and we hung out a bit getting to know each other. B-day comes around and in that short time, she had picked up on all the little things that casual conversation bring and put together an amazing day. A trip to the city hitting a natural history exhibit I had talked briefly about. She cut me loose at a second hand music shop I used to frequent as a kid and put up with 4 hours of me thumbing through every damned album in the place. Ended it all with a night cap at quiet pub, cold brews, pool and an absurd amount of money stuffed into the jukebox. First and only real birthday celebration I've ever had and by far the most thoughtful gifts I've ever recieved.

Earn your own money, then do 0DTE, then come here. Did you finish your milk or not?

Welcome to the club. For what it's worth, you get used to it.

Just bear in mind that once you have permanent tinnitus it'll only ever get worse, so look after your ears as best you can. It's not the end of the world, I've lived with ringing in my ears for over a decade and to be honest it's only an occasional mild annoyance. If you can avoid it altogether, good. If not, well, we all make mistakes, and there's no point dwelling on the past, just try to avoid making the same mistake and making things worse.

Edit: there are non hearing damage related causes for tinnitus as well, if you're concerned, see a doctor. If you've been exposed to very loud noise for extended periods of time it's most likely hearing damage though.

8 minutes isn’t reasonable either. When I first moved here, I thought how great the metro was by comparison to the subways in NYC & Philly. DC metro is newer and cleaner but with these waits and lack of train staggered for those that have to chain lines, I’m eating those words. I’ll take dirty, grimy, and never having to check a schedule again any day.
