Luddites were trying to throw wrenches in the works of tech that was destroying their livelihood. Calling someone who has legitimate concerns about use and misuse of entirely new tech a luddite is really a misrepresentation.

I'd put a small r&d team in charge of studying the nalbending weaving/knotting techniques of the ancient vikings. We have found woven wool socks that are over a thousand years old in burial mounds, and they are still watertight today.

That r&d team would be in charge of figuring out how to replicate those techniques using modern technology and materials.

Also, get some material science nerds to see if they can develop hollow carbon nanotubes filled with non-Newtonian fluid, so that the entire structure of the sock itself could serve like a gel cushion. Put Dr Scholl's out of business.

A tree well is an area around a tree that receives less snowfall than the surrounding area, due to the foliage of the tree blocking it. This results in a pit or "well" in the snow around the tree.

Tree wells are dangerous even in non-avalanche conditions because someone can fall into them and be unable to escape. Falling into a tree well can be lethal in the worst cases. I suspect they would be particularly problematic if you were washed into them by an avalanche because it could bury someone even deeper than normal as you would essentially be pushed into a hole and then the hole covered up.

Tinnitus is pretty slow. I have it badly but only the more I actually focus and listen to the ringing specifically. U can get ringing in your ears for listening to something for too loudly that will go away over time, tinnitus is life long really, so I’m hoping for your sake that it goes away for you.
