Drove to Wilson, NC this morning to visit the sweetest lady ever. She was our housekeeper growing up. She always tells me that when I was a little girl, I would pack a bag every Friday because I wanted to go home with her. She is 97 now and lives in a nursing home. Before she had to move into the nursing home, I would drive down and spend the weekend with her. Dreams do come true!

I take solace in the fact that the executive, in his/her grief, might now consider another part of the Aspen Proposal that suggests that all humans have the same suite of needs, shaped by our evolution. There are real and robust ways to meet those needs, and yachts isn't one of them.

Since we're talking posts as well, I'll nominate that thing people do where there are already active posts on a topic, but they'll pretend they didn't see them and start another about the exact same thing... presumably because they see the subject is getting a lot of engagement and want to reposition it with themselves as the center of attention.

On a case-by-case basis I can't prove that's what any given individual is doing, but it happens way too often and sometimes it's such an out-of-the-blue topic that I have a hard time believing the 2nd guy thought of it independently without having seen the other post. Plus you can often tell it's about them getting attention because they're usually some thread-sitting mfers lol

I know what you mean. Having played the original God of War games where Kratos was a literal god slayer, to now where he cooled down to be a father, and then to see his relationship with his own son grow. It would be really hard to play a God of War without THE God of War.

My fear is… what would be Krato’s story next?

The only somewhat understandable argument is that sometimes great ideas are based on random exchanges between people from different projects that happen during coffee or lunch breaks, but if teams/slack/zoom are used effectively, you can mimick that with group calls.

Specifically gamers tend to communicate that way in tools like discord and teamspeak.

Many of the bigger mmo rpg guilds are basically structured like companies. Remote communication works just fine for them.

Really? You aren’t compatible. These aren’t issues. They are major differences in what you each want out of life. Break up. Do not let his miserable self who hates his life and can’t afford rent to move in. Read this back and pretend a stranger wrote it. The answer is obvious.

Good job learning about this stuff. I'd recommend reading "The Little book of common sense investing" by John Bogle. A Random Walk Down Wall Street by Malkiel is also excellent.

Investing should be different from gambling, but there are a lot of trading options that are effectively just gambling. After spending decades thinking and researching this stuff, I strongly believe that Bogle and Malkiel are correct -- your best bet as an individual is to buy the entire market via a low cost index fund/ETF. Don't try to beat the market, as it's too hard to have a sustainable edge over the competition. Spend your time working on obtaining valuable skills and increasing your income potential.

It's interesting to learn about investing in individual stocks, options, futures, financial analysis, but the risk is that you delude yourself into thinking that you can pick the winners and beat the overall market average. Settle for average, and you'll be ahead of most people.

Wallstreetbets is more of a gambling subreddit than an investing one. We love losing money and posting it in exchange for karma. You'll most likely end up losing all of your money on options and horrible stock picks if you stay here long enough.
