Reply to TIL that New Orleans chicory coffee mix started during the American Civil War when Union naval blockades cut off the port of New Orleans bringing coffee shipments to a halt. New Orleanians looking for their coffee fix began mixing chicory with coffee to stretch out the supply. by GeoJono
I remember about Napoleon doing something similar

Also I have no idea what it'd look! I just was casually reading the city budget to see how pittsburgh money is spent when I saw this post.

It's insane how close it hit to my parent's house. Basically right in the center of West Little Rock, smashed into major shopping areas at Rodney Parham/430 and Cantrel/430, then crossed the river and hit NLR/Sherwood. It was really bad.

I see your return to office has been productive. It's a good thing you're physically present on location today, heaven forbid you do anything productive with your time besides follow silly rules.

Reply to Over-under that Google already has AGI? Try and rationalize the release of Bard. by AdditionalPizza
There’s no 4d chess here. Bard is the best they have. That’s why Larry Page and Sergei Brin had to fly in for a “code red” emergency meeting. I don’t find it too surprising that a scrappy start up was able to outwit a Google. This has been the continual story in business. Google is a typical large company with too many committees and red tape. They got complacent and fell asleep at the wheel. Same thing that happened to IBM, GE, Blockbuster, Barnes and Noble, etc. Microsoft and Apple are incredibly rare examples of businesses that have managed to stay relevant and reinvent themselves.

It isn't a worldwide law, but it is a US law. And since a significant percentage of e-mail users are based in the US it would be foolish for a company to risk violating that law.

Immature position. Yes you can build your own, because you want it to use your private data for learning. That is a real thing. Create your own personal assistant with access to your private data ensuring no one else can get to it. But, that $85k of hardware is very limited and will need management and upgrading to grow. That is where the cloud service is way better. Plus, if it is important enough to build your own you also need to secure it. Good luck there.
