Reply to ELI5: If benzodiazepines are CNS depressants, why is it so hard to die from a overdose of them alone? by psychrolute
Most of them have a really high safety window, so the therapeutic range is large, and hard to go into the toxic range. And unless combined with other substances they don't usually depress your respiratory system.

Everything we know is curated by tech these days if you get most of your info from online. I’ve been feeling like we are already controlled by a highly intelligent entity. Not sure if this is good or bad. Is it just the next step in evolution and humans are now pets or worse cattle?

Avoid generalized invitations to discuss frequently discussed topics (Will AI take over the world? Is Chat-GPT good or bad, etc, etc). Instead, aim for discussion with specific topics (with supporting links if possible), and give detail to the ideas about their future implications that you would like to see discussed. If possible articulate multiple aspects of these future implications to encourage high quality discussion.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your stepfather. Regarding the lease, you should first read the lease carefully to see if there is a provision for early termination of the lease in the event of an unforeseen circumstance. If there is no such provision, you will need to speak with your landlord to explain your situation and request an early termination of the lease. Often, the landlord may require you to pay a fee for early termination, such as liquidated damages or a portion of the unexpired rent. If your landlord agrees to terminate the lease early, make sure you have a written agreement with him/her to avoid any disputes in the future. If your landlord does not agree to end the lease early, you may need to consult a local legal professional for additional help.

Have you tried reinstalling it or clearing the cache? I don't use Twitter but I remember reading a while ago that unlike other apps there is a lot of content that loads at once when you use it/open it and stays in ram while also using cpu power, even if you're not accessing said content .

I asked ChatGPT for a simple line graph (or even a link to one) showing demand for NFT's over the last 2 years...couldn't do it. I had to do a Google search. I'm guessing you can start going over the moon with excitement around version 6 or 7....maybe.

The information you need will be in your lease agreement. Time to dig it out and start reading.
Generally, there is a fee for leaving a lease early. Years ago, it used to be equivalent to half or a full months rent. These days, I see more people complaining that you're on the hook for rent until they can find another tenant which could, theoretically, be until next December. Your lease agreement will have the details as well as how to move forward with doing it if you truly want to.
While looking, if you find it would be financially impossible to break the lease, look for information in the agreement about subletting the apartment. If it's possible (it's not guaranteed to be an option), you might be able to rent out the apartment to someone else for the duration of your lease.

You didn't just offer her sex, you offered her companionship (going out and doing stuff, joking, talking daily, etc.
No, it sounds like she's in no way capable of a deep relationship and doesn't want that right now, but it doesn't look like she "just used you for sex." (Source: Been there, seen that.)
It sounds to me like she did enjoy speding time with you, but she also didn't want to lead you on into thinking it was more than what sounds like an actual-friends with benefits kind of thing, so she did the right thing and broke it off when she noticed that you were starting to get that impression. You should be grateful for that, because, believe me, it sucks when these situations linger on with ambiguity.

LD50 is 1850 mg/kg in mice, so it takes around 40 mg to kill an average one. Here's a case study where one guy took 100 mg, one woman took 120 mg and both were out of the hospital within a few days and didn't really need any treatment
You can take stupid big overdoses of benzos and survive because they all have pretty good therapeutic indices. The bigger issue is that, if you don't pass out, you'll probably run out blacked out and can do enough stupid shit to end up in jail etc

> > One solution I have in mind for the AI replacement of jobs causing both massive unemployment and the collapse of consumption relies on the potential for AI to correct the oldest weakness of any endeavor which is human error while also being able to consider every factor relevant in a decision making proccess. What I want to say with this is that the future of labour as a whole would consist of performing your current job with AI assistance correcting your mistakes and reminding you of every relevant factor in the decision making proccess in order to both produce less flawed results and make things in shorter spans of time. This would potentially lead to either shorter work schedules or overall higher productivity and with greater advancements in AI eventually to both and as AI assistance becomes widespread this could also lead to a rise in consumption as well. Also an argument could be made about how learning to interact with the AI assistent means higher wages should be given.

Totally agree, especially because congestion along City Ave is nightmarish, and there's just no reason for the number of single-occupant cars on that stretch. I'd also like it if lines like the G (or even the 10) had some stops on the suburban side of City Ave.

I guess you are right. Most people that try to kill themselves with it drink alcohol too. I stand corrected. I couldn’t imagine taking 50 mg of it.
