So...you can actually drink sea water (for a limited time) in order to hydrate yourself. The thing is, in quantities high enough to maintain that hydration (as opposed to staving off dehydration), you'd have to drink too much of it over too short a period of time, overloading your kidneys' ability to filter out the excess salt, resulting in hypersalinity. And that's Bad. But, for short periods at the right rate, it is possible.

In the end, it's all about balance: if you go into a situation severely depleted in electrolytes (of which salt is only one option), and drink sea water, it can actually help, up until the balance is restored, and then you start tipping the scales in the other direction.

Homeostasis is key.

Why would you harass foster parents? If you take the kids away, where do you put them?

My father was a judge and personally visited foster parents homes to see if everything was allright. But he could only do so much, for if pressed hard enough the parents just told him to take the kids if he wants them. Take them where? The courthouse?

There are reports that trucking companies can't find drivers for they put cams in trucks. Nobody likes to be surveiled 24/7. No foster parent will agree to have AI surveilance in their home either.

There is no gentle way to go through his laundry list of missed personal care.

He has all sorts of funk going on- so you have multiple issues here.

If you want this, you are going to have to tell him the truth. Perhaps you approach it a bit more indirectly and express it as preferences like...

"Not sure if you notice, but I always make sure to shower and smell good for you...I love it when my guy smells fresh and clean too...."

But I will be honest. I think either he is incredibly lazy and shortsighted or he was completely failed at being raised to care for himself. I am not sure simple relationships will motivate this dude to make huge, meaningful changes.
