Probably because more often than not the actor isn’t a native speaker so it makes more sense to just have the lines in English. The most egregious example of this is characters speaking Spanish in American movies, they often use direct translations or don’t pronounce correctly if the actor isn’t a native speaker.

Anyway, this is what I enjoy a lot about movies like Inglorious Basterds. There are two prominent scenes about the characters’ cover being blown because their non-native accent was recognized.

Girlfriend finds 99% of what I enjoy musically to be unlistenable noise - which is fine, I'm listening to a lot of French post-black metal and death metal; she loves Tori Amos and Ani DiFranco, we are not quite the same - so investing in a pair of really good headphones has allowed me to enjoy my unpalatable harsh chaos noise without her having to suffer through it.

EDIT: it occurs to me that my answer may not be all that helpful, or on-topic, because my headphones only cost me around $300USD...not an insignificant amount, but also not the $1000+ cans that OP was probably asking about.

Yeah, but the orientation is still arbitrary. There’s nothing natural about associating the poles with up and down or the precession of the sun through the sky as side to side motion.

It’s purely an arbitrary convention that could easily be reversed with no impact on how any of it is observed now or in the past.

I don’t think so. Seems to be applicable to everyone. We just got the email this afternoon & it goes into effect April 10th. If your family member isn’t affected, can you ask him if his department is hiring? Lol!

Western "democracy" is hardly actually democratic, it's de facto controlled by moneyed and propertied elites. If you think people actually choose their governments under this system you just bought their line.

It kills me that this person is so close to the truth. Yes, devices are constantly recording and using your data, but it's so far abstracted away from an individual as to be intangible. Nobody is sitting in a cube farm with headphones scoping out your conversation and taking notes to blackmail you with. Nobody is really important

Incorrect.

  1. You already paid tax when you earned the income.
  2. When you contribute to traditional IRA, you do not take a tax deduction, making the contribution "nondeductible".
  3. When you convert to Roth IRA, you won't pay any more tax since the entire IRA is filled with only nondeductible contribution. The only exception is if you allow the earnings to pile up before converting.
  4. Since the conversion was not taxable, you don't need to wait 5 years to withdraw.
